Santa Ynez River fly-fishing
The Santa Ynez river can be a fantastic place to fish if the conditions are good. In the spring time after the rains have come and replenished the water flows, this river comes to life. Rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and even an occasional giant carp can be found. Deep pools, tail water, and under-cutt banks will hold the most fish.
I can take you on moderate excursions that require very little hiking if any at all. For the more adventurous, I can take you on hikes deep in to the Santa Ynez River Valley to hunt larger rainbow trout and small mouth bass high into the valley. This can be a very rewarding trip because we can target trout and bass on the same trip. I have had many days up there with over ten fish of both species.
I have posted a picture of lake Cachuma and the valley we enter is the background to the lake. Please ask for updates for when this trip is available due to seasonal changes. Spring time is best!
